About This Game The Outpost Nine - Episode 1 is a Visual Novel/Point and Click hybrid game following the small skeleton crew of “The Outpost”, A lonely mining facility set on the small moon “Cobalt Paradise”.While preparing the facility for the arrival of the rest of the Outpost mining crew, they accepted a distress call from a close-by freighter. While searching the freighter, they find two pilots, one horribly disfigured yet alive and only the remains of the other. However, the pilot they bring into the Outpost turns out to be host to a bizarre and frightened parasite putting the crew in intense danger.GameplayThe gameplay switches between that of a visual novel through cutscenes and then into a top down point and click in gameplay. Actions in the game are chosen through a menu, in a similar style to Snatcher or Policenauts. As you make your way around the facility, solving puzzles, you have to avoid the pilot. You do that by listening to the beeping of your motion scanner and when it gets closer, find a place to hide. 7aa9394dea Title: The Outpost Nine: Episode 1Genre: Adventure, IndieDeveloper:Benjy BatesPublisher:Sedoc LLCRelease Date: 27 Jul, 2018 The Outpost Nine: Episode 1 Download Setup Compressed the outpost nine episode 1 The outpost 9 is an episodic visual novel/point and click hybrid where you follow the story of the crew of the outpost which is a mining facility set on a small moon called cobalt paradise. The first episode contains two chapters and will take you about an hour to complete. The gameplay is very unique as throughout the game the gameplay switches between cutscenes that you would expect to find in a visual novel game to a top down point and click style where in game actions are done through an in game menu. The aim is to make your way arround the facility solving puzzles all while avoiding the pilot, this is done by keeping an ear to your motion scanner and when the pilot is aproaching you must find a place to hide. The in game visuals are very retro styled which I like and feel that it suits this style of game very well, the accompanying audio is also very nice and does not seem out of place at any point in the game. Each character has the own visuals and their own personality within the game and each character does a great job at telling the over all story of the game, while voiceover would be nice i feel that text speach in this game suits the style and feel of the game a little more as is adds well to the retro feel of the game.Overall I really like the story in this game and enjoyed my time playing it and for such a low price I would reccomend you pick up this game.. Was really excited about this title but It gives me the feeling that Im reading how a bunch of young high school kids are talking to each other. This is supposed to be a crew of professionals. It could be such a good title, and yet it is not. And yet another game refunded.. Fantastic text game with obvious influence from "Alien" and older sci-fi films. 8/10. The Outpost Nine is an exciting and thrilling game. The game is a Visual Novel/Point and click adventure that puts you in the shoes of the captian of the mining facilitly on a moon named "Cobalt Paradise". It is a highly story driven game with the elements of the visual novel. This gives the game a good chance of pulling you in to find out what is going to happen. It sure did with me. The point and click elements are implemented after a freighter crash lands on the moon near the outpost. Little to your knowledge, a danger awaits within. The point and click mechanics are put to their full potential when you have to run and hide from a bizarre monster hunting you down during the course of the game. This is a challenge when you have to find your way out of an area in the maze like layout you must follow whilst trying to solve puzzles. There is a nice selection of characters in the story all with their own visual and personalities making them unique to one another. This does a great job of keeping the entertainment value of the narratives and keeps the story interesting. The soundtrack to the game is a perfect match to the genre and retro 80's style feel to the game. It has an immense eerie feeling to it, adding to the scare factor of the game.I loved the design of the retro graphics. It looks like what you would expect from a really dated PC, like terminals from the Alien movies for comparison. This really emphasises on the story and narrative really well and I feel it was definitely the best art choice for the game. The only drawback I ran into was some minor spelling/grammar mistakes. It is easy to look past those errors though as you can make out what is being said without a problem and there was only a couple that I found.I would recommend this game to anyone who likes a good narrative/story or point and click adventures. This game has both and for the cheap price tag associated with it, you surely won't be disappointed.. This is a neat little game. Great for people who love horror, but don't like jumpscares. The sound and visuals have a retro feel to them and I found them surprisingly immersive. Clever use of styling of text further helps with the immersion. The puzzles are pretty easy if you've played similar games before, but that means the game is also suited for players new to the genre. The game is quite linear, but that ties in with the visual novel style and I don't mind it in this setting. I'm now eagerly awaiting Episode 2!. A classic SF trope adapted to an innovative and immersive hybrid gameplay, combining the Animated Visual Novel and Interactive Point&Click genres, all in a retrofuturistic style. Sadly episode 1 is barely a taste of the concept, a solid taste neverthless. Looking forward to the next episodes.. I played for 20 minutes, nothing happened in that time.. I would definitely recommend this game, really like the story and the overall style.. Outpost 9 is a lo-fi visual novel with a great 70s/80s scifi-horror atmosphere. While the graphics are rather simple, they work well in context of what the game is trying to achieve. The UI, the visual style and the story all come together to make a compelling (but short) experience. The premise of the game is that a group of corporate workers are stuck on an old mining base. They suddenly recieve an usual request from a senior corporate executive. How can you not like this setup? :) If you like movies like Alien, The Thing or Bladerunner, you'll enjoy Outpost 9. Some of the mini-games are mildly annoying, but it's not gamebreaking. Looking forward to Episode 2.. Short but engaging. I could see this being streched out into a series. I hope they expand upon it. Update v2.1: UPDATEHey everyone! The game has had a minor update and is now live! Hope you're enjoying the game.
